Migrants’ Integration through Volunteering Activities (MIVA) INFO Day

UPDATE (13.06.2019):

Foundation for Somalia has officially kick-started the migrants’ integration through volunteering activities (MIVA) project with the organisation of the Info Day. The MIVA Project Info Day was organised on June 13, 2019. The event launched the opening of the MIVA project in Poland by providing full information about the project covering the following areas:

1. Deployment of Indigo application and NGO platform in participating countries.

2. Co-development of a cross-cultural activities programme in all participating communities aimed to promote social cohesion and cultural awareness including:

· Cookery courses and production of a booklet with multicultural recipes.

· Intercultural festivals promoting cultural diversity and co-existence.

· Intercultural futsal/football matches.

· Organization of cultural tours ‘’Explore your city”.

· Creation of “documentaries” including experiences from cross-cultural activities in each territory involved.

3. Implementation of Capacity Building Workshops aimed at developing host communities’ intercultural competences.

Participant had the opportunity to ask questions about the project and the possibility of taking part in the cultural activities.

Foundation for Somalia cordially invites professionals, migrants, experts, cultural assistants and all working with migrants to the info day for the Migrants’ Integration through Volunteering Activities (MIVA) Project. This briefing will officially unveil the entire project in Poland. The main objective of this project is focused on tackling the issue of migrants’ active participation in the integration of their host countries by providing opportunities for volunteering which in turn may lead to opportunities for engagement in the working life of the host community as well.

During this info day, the following activities will be covered to provide full information about the project:

1. Deployment of Indigo application and NGO platform in participating countries.

2. Co-development of a cross-cultural activities programme in all participating communities aimed to promote social cohesion and cultural awareness including:

· Cookery courses and production of a booklet with multicultural recipes.

· Intercultural festivals promoting cultural diversity and co-existence.

· Intercultural futsal/football matches.

· Organization of cultural tours ‘’Explore your city”.

· Creation of “documentaries” including experiences from cross-cultural activities in each territory involved.

3. Implementation of Capacity Building Workshops aimed at developing host communities’ intercultural competences.

The target groups of the project include third-country nationals, volunteers, trainers, representatives of government authorities at all levels, migrant organizations and non-governmental organizations.

The MIVA consortium consists of 7 organizations from 6 different European countries: Greece, Cyprus, France, Italy, Poland and Finland.

The initiative is supported by the DIRECTORATE GENERAL FOR MIGRATION AND INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION.
