The president of the Foundation for Somalia, Abdulcadir Gabeire Farah, was awarded the prestigious Złote Wachlarze Award in the ‘Person’ category. The competition is organized by International Organization for Migrations (IOM) in Warsaw.

The prizewinners were announced during the Złote Wachlarze ceremony night on the 18th of December 2014. The date is special itself – it is the International Migrant Day.

– Human mobility became one of the most typical features of modern societies. Currently more than 230 million people are migrants. With the ‘Złote Wachlarze” award we try to emphasis that migration is a very important factor in human life. It’s about making choices, gaining profits and experiencing loss. But there is a challenge, too, when it comes to immigrants’ ability to integrate into broader society. There are benefits: economic, social and cultural – said Anna Rostocka, Director of Polish IOM Office.

ZŁOTY WACHLARZ – “PERSON” CATEGORY WINNER

Abdulcadir Gabeire Farah, FDS founder:

– It’s not an individual award. It’s a prize for the entire team of the Foundation for Somalia. I have a dream now: I want to see more and more talented and compassionate people joining our team. Together, step by step, we can make the world a better place.
