Project – “First Aid for Migrants”!

T

he Polish Red Cross along with the Foundation for Somalia started the project “First Aid for migrants”. It includes Polish language courses, first aid courses, legal advice, vocational activation training, intercultural and integration events, and activities for children. The courses and advice are directed at migrants and refugees from all around the world, mainly from Eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia while the cross-cultural and integration events will also be open to the local community to promote tolerance.

The aim of the project is to support the integration of migrants and is addressed to everyone, regardless of origin, age or gender. For busy parents wanting to learn Polish, there will be a children’s corner where the cultural assistants will take care of the children. For the integration to work both ways, events such as culinary workshops, workshops for children, the celebration of International Peace Day, Christmas will also allow for the involvement of the local community in order to bring the participants together.

The Foundation for Somalia is a non-governmental organization created by immigrant and Polish members with a wide experience in running integrative activity. It cooperates with The Polish Red Cross since 2010 and its main aim is to spread the idea of tolerance and respect for human rights which goes along with the values promoted by the PCK.
