PROJECT

It is a support programme for migrant organizations. The programme offers individual support, training, workshops and counselling – including general and specialized topics covering the work in the non-profit sector. The program will particularly focus on information and integration issues of immigrants in general and of specific groups of immigrants.

Intercultural Incubator for Migrants Organisations

We are looking for people who:

  • represent a registered NGO formed by third-country nationals* or represent an informal group in which third-country national are actively engaged,
  • seek to transform an active informal group into a registered NGO or other third sector entity,
  • are leaders of their national, ethnic environment, their region and/or culture,
  • have an idea and want to implement grassroots initiative/small project related to their culture and aimed at the host society (Polish); the initiative shall use scarce resources, skills and knowledge they had acquired in the MIOI program,
  • would like to obtain technical and professional support in the process of forming the structures of the organisation and development,
  • wish to get involved in the promotion of the MIOI and contribute to the platform, and wish to promote best practices and the entire project.

The project is dedicated to the third country nationals, staying legally in Poland – individuals who are neither from the EU country in which they are currently living or staying, nor from other member states of the European Union. The term is often used, together with ‘foreign national’ and ‘non-EU foreign national’.

Project activities are implemented from March 2014 to May 2015

16 selected participants will take part in the training programs for organizations and leaders in migrant environment. There are 5 weekend trainings that will take place in Warsaw from April to June this year. The package of 96h consists of:

  • Legal, formal and financial aspects of NGO’s activity – 2 days
  • Workshop on intercultural competences – 2 days
  • Leadership skills and team management training – 2 days
  • Project management and project implementation – 4 days
  • Public relations and marketing – 2 days

You can apply for free consultancy services even if you couldn’t attend the trainings or be involved in the entire project.

And of course you can get involved in the project and promotional activities as well!

In September, after completing the introductory phase of the training programs, we will organize a contest for the best initiatives – competitors will be asked to write their small project/initiative proposal and will have a chance to get their project co-financed and realized with the assistance of the Foundation for Somalia.

There will be 10 champion projects! We will sign cooperation agreement with you and you can use our contacts, technical infrastructure, office equipment and meeting room. There will be a mentor assigned to your initiative group while preparing your project.

The project is an opportunity to exchange the information and to be a sharing platform for migrant organizations. It will also be a possibility to promote yourself and your organization through our ImmigrantsInAction.pl platform.

Participation in the MIOI project means a lot of work and engagement but after the completion of the program you will be ready to realize your own initiatives an ideas!
