O projekcie

Project “Comprehensive program of supporting women from Ukraine to access Gender-based violence prevention and response” services, funded by International Medical Corps (IMC).

Duration: August 16 – December 31, 2022
The aim of this project is to strengthen protection and services related to gender-based violence (GBV) for Ukrainian refugees by implementing a Women and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) in Warsaw. As part of the WGSS, the International Medical Corps (IMC) provided a wide range of protection services using a survivor-centered and multi-sectoral approach, the principles of psychological first aid (PFA), including: identification of people with special needs; supportive response to disclosures of gender-based violence and appropriate referrals; GBV case management; and facilitating the creation of women- and children-friendly spaces.
The Centre established a referral system with the OPS and provided comprehensive support services, also focusing on the needs of children and women in terms of rebuilding their social networks, obtaining group support and opportunities to participate in recreational and training activities, where childcare is also provided.

Expected results: people experiencing GBV have access to confidential, safe, comprehensive and high-quality response services, reduced risk of gender-based violence and improved quality of response, women and girls of all ages who have experienced sexual violence have access to age-appropriate, confidential and high-quality response services, strengthened access to protection information, PFA and referrals through WGSS.

As part of the programme, 100 women took part in Polish language courses, 114 people benefited from specialist psychological support and 590 took part in various events and a recreational and integration programme, 28 women benefited from group support. In total, we provided 1320 consultations for 44 people.
2022 is the second year of the project, which aims to increase the availability and diversity of the offer of integration and specialist assistance adequate to the needs of people with experience of international migration living in Warsaw and affected by domestic violence.
