Namaste Polsko! Publication

O projekcie

We present a publication summarizing the project “Namaste Polsko! Badanie sytuacji i potrzeb związanych z integracją Hindusów w Polsce” (“Namaste Polsko! Study of the situation and needs related to the integration of Hindus in Poland”).

The book is the result of an analysis conducted by Iwona Bąbiak, Katarzyna Gmaj and Helena Patzer. The results of the study are perfectly complemented by articles on India and Hindus by Marta Zdzieborska, Anna Romanowicz and Magdalena Góralska.

The project is co-financed by the European Union funds under the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals and the state budget.

From the review by prof. dr hab. Ewa Nowicka
Institute of Sociology, Collegium Civitas, Institute of Sociology, University of Warsaw

“There is no doubt that the collective work presented to me is not only interesting, but also valuable both from a purely cognitive perspective and from the perspective of the social policy of the Polish state, including, above all, that part of it that concerns attitudes towards immigration. At the same time, the book fills a gap in the sociological literature on immigrants from India in Poland. Although there is a lot of research devoted to other groups of migrants, such as Vietnamese, Ukrainians, Chechens, there has been a lack of interest in Indian migrants so far. (…) Personally, I am very glad that research on Hindus in Poland has been conducted, that interdisciplinary cooperation has been established, and – finally – that it has resulted in the creation of such an interesting dissertation.”

From the review by dr hab. Krzysztof Czekaj, prof. UP
Head of the Department of Applied Sociology and Social Disorganization, Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Pedagogical University of Warsaw KEN in Krakow

“This is undoubtedly a documented attempt to look at the Indian diaspora in Poland, in the middle of the second decade of the 21st century (…) it provides important arguments in the discussion on the process of immigration to Poland of representatives of other cultures and nationalities. The work may be of interest to a wide range of readers, including academic circles, both in economic disciplines and other social sciences, students of these disciplines, as well as politicians, local government activists and non-governmental organizations, who deal with the problems encountered by immigrants from various countries of the world, including India, who come to Poland on a daily basis.”
